What’s this new YACKon.com thing all about?

The new YACK (or the fourth re-iteration of YACK, which, if you think about it, is kind of getting to sound like Dr. Who…) will be different than what has come before it.

First, there will be ads. Little square ads. If you want one, I’ll sell you one. Prices to be determined. Hey, make me an offer.

Second, there will be a greater integration with Facebook. The idea is to have posts that you make on YACK also show up on Facebook and vice versa. This will allow for a greater exchange of ideas an allow you to interact with people you might not normally encounter on Facebook but who are a part of our larger island community.

Third, YACK will endeavor to cover real news more in the coming months. The plan is to do the things that Facebook doesn’t necessarily do well here. Like foster a larger and more in-depth discussion of topics both serious and light.

Fourth, we will have a hierarchy of people who can contribute content and those who simply want to interact with it.

Fifth, as you can see, the new YACK is a lot more media-friendly. Nearly every thread will have some kind of image. This will give people an opportunity to share their media and experiences.

Sixth, hell, I’m open to suggestions. Let me know what you think and what you want.

This new YACK will take several weeks to perfect and officially launch. I will be reaching out to certain people to get their input and help. If you’d like to volunteer, heck, let me know…
