Yes, that is one big supermarket. And it looks like a done deal, pretty much. The question is, how big should it be? How big is too big for Nantucket? Please weigh in.

Stop & Shop has plans. And moldy strawberries.

Yes on Stop and Shop expansion (the road infrastructure is better than Old South Road, already really bad in summer) which leads me to
No on the Old South Road megamarts.

Here at YACK, we were wondering if people are for, against or indifferent about this proceed increase in the size of the Stop & Shop. Please weigh in. A quick comment is all that is needed. But feel free to post something longer if you’re into it.

I hope it’s OK for me to comment here, Grant.
I just wanted to say that I feel it’s OK for the overall new S&S at its present location to be bigger (more room for storage for food coming over from America, a bakery, maybe, and a meat counter like the Harbor S&S has, etc.), but I hope the new building doesn’t include a pharmacy – which I haven’t read anything about in the Inky stories – that might impinge upon our two island pharmacy outfits we already have. I feel it’s important to keep our local pharmacies viable and here for the long-haul. An anti-CVS kind of thing.
S&S prices will still be high, as we all know, but at least we can buy the “sale” items and clip coupons for several months of the year, and save quite a lot.

Yes on any SUPERMARKET willing to do business here. And would’nt it be convenient if they could sell beer and wine.
